Food Coloring, Not just for Easter

I have been making more food at home lately. I have a bunch of food coloring bottles. I have been putting random food colors in all kinds of things. The colors do not come out well in the photos so I put some descriptive words around the pictures. What is nice about the food coloring is that it really does not change the taste of the food.

Rice WP_003332 yellow food coloring

Cookies WP_003330 red with green M&M’s

Muffins WP_003328 red

Tuna Mac and Cheese aka “Brains”WP_003317 green

Cream Cheese Frosting WP_003210 blue

A Giant Cookie WP_003314 orange

Adding the food colors to random food has made cooking a little more fun. You should try using food colors throughout the year.

Homemade Cheesecake

I have been feeling adventurous with baking lately. Even though I did not like how the wedding cake came out, I still am enjoying baking. I am trying to clean out my baking supplies. Though I guess I should not have bought more chocolate chips. I have a bunch of cream cheese I am trying to use up. I bought some graham crackers and made my own crumbs. I crumbled too many so I made two cakes. In the round one I added some fresh squeezed lemon juice.

I ate this square one last night. It was pretty good. A little over cooked perhaps.

This one I added lemon juice. The lemon was not noticeable in the final product. The taste was not as dry as the square one. Taste was about the same. I meant to add strawberry jam to the top of one of the cakes. I forgot about the jam though.

07/31/2011

I finally woke up for good around 22:00. I got dressed in a shirt, tie, and slacks. I could not decide what to do all day so I ended up sleeping. I finally left the house a little before 23:00. I started walking around Broadway trying to figure out a good place to get some food.

I spent part of my night at the Garage drinking. Then I spent 56 minutes bowling 5 games. I find it hard to believe that I spent 11 minutes a game. And my best game was the 5th with a 149 score.

Game 1 – 96

Game 2 – 110

Game 3 – 109 –

Game 4 - 99 with 2 strikes in the 10th, thought I was only going to get a 90 if I struck out

Game 5 - 149 3 strikes

I ended that 4th game so well that I decided to bowl a 5th. The 5th started well and I did okay. I think I should have relaxed earlier in the night, I would have bowled higher games. Either the combination of relaxation and alcohol or just a little bit more concentration earlier in the night would have increased my scores. At $5 a lane for an hour, I think I should spend more time bowling.

100_6608My birthday cake with some candles. I thought I had a picture of the candles on fire but I can not seem to find it. It was quite a blaze.

After bowling I stopped at the Sun Liquor Distillery to get a screwdriver. Then I made my way home.

Wednesday Night at the Deluxe

I did a little stalking last night with the pretext that I needed to work on my Letter of Interest for a new job at work. I knew Erin was at CAP so I went up there to work on my letter after work. I left the building so she ran into me outside the building. We had a nice chat and I put her on the #49 bus home. My knee wanted to walk so when I was trying to sit down at the library, my knee was not happy.
Then I went to the Deluxe for Burger-Rama. $4.99 for a good Bacon Onion Avocado burger plus fries is a tough deal to beat. Plus 2 beers and I was ready to go home. I did manage to get a line or two written at the library and at the Deluxe. At the Deluxe I sat next to this really warm fireplace.

After the Deluxe I came down to the Summit and ran into Chris, Brittany, and Dora. Dora is the smallest dog I know. Also the quietest and stillest dog I have seen. I never see her move. I never hear her.
A couple drinks at the Summit. Some good conversation. I was good to go home. I did not finish my letter but I had a good time. And what is more important?

Madison Beach Park

People jumping off the boards

100_5369After swimming and tanning for a while, I went and got some food at McGilvra’s. The Pita Bread was warm and good. The Spinach and Artichoke dip was okay. I think I have had better dip but I have not had better Pita Bread. 100_5366 100_5367I ordered the beef stew with a side salad. I asked for Ranch but got Honey mustard. Since I have been trying to expand my food choices I kept the Honey mustard. The little slices of hard bread were good with the stew.  And I had a slice of caramel cheesecake for dessert. The slices of strawberry alongside were so good. The way the caramel was drizzled onto the strawberries….so good!100_5368

After eating, I went and took some more pictures of the beach and the water. I can not believe that this is my first summer coming to this spot. I have been in Seattle way too long and have not taken advantage of the scenery.

Now that I am desperate to get out of Seattle, I am finding all these things that make living in Seattle not so bad.

Upcoming Posts

I need to work on a bunch of posts. Maybe if I make a list, that will compel me to work on some of them.
1. Tahiti part 3
2. Dolphins
3. Birthday Night 2010
4. Highway 1
5. Avenue of the Giants
6. Oregon Coast
7. August 1
8. Work
9. Apartment
Plus some random ones that I do not want to mention right now. The hardest one that I think to write will be the Tahiti one. Too many things that I want to say that I can not bring myself to talk about yet. But then again, the longer I do not talk about it the harder talking about it becomes.
Yes, the vague musings of my life are horrible.

5th Envelope plus Envelope 4B

I forgot about Envelope 4B. I opened it at the right time. Chichen Ista tour looks great. I have been wanting to see some Mayan Ruins for a long time. I want to wait on confirming those plans until I see what Lorelei and JD have planned for Saturday.

100_4393 100_4394 100_4395 100_4396 100_4397 100_4398 100_4399 100_4400 All these places that Lorelei and JD included look good. I am so tired from traveling that I decide to just hang out in the Hotel Bar. Nice and quiet. Great view of the Caribbean Sea. I see no reason to go out tonight. I tried to take a nap when I first got to the hotel but I just could not sleep. I guess I slept longer on the plane than I had thought.

100_4401 This is the Terrace dining room. I guess there is Main dining room upstairs.100_4402 100_4403 100_4404 100_4405 100_4406 100_4407 100_4408 100_4409 100_4410 100_4411 100_4412 100_4413 100_4414 100_4415 100_4416 100_4417 After eating I moved over to the bar area.100_4418

This is a carving done by one of the hotel workers. I believe if I understood Miguel correctly, this is the Goddess Ixchel.100_4419
