Stop the Charity Scam

I saw this article on the front page of the paper one day while I was walking to work. If a charity was succesful in its mission, it would disband after the incident which formed the need for the charity in the first place. Was there a need for charity after 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and other disasters? YES. Is there a need for the charity to exist 50 years later? NO. People should not need jobs running a charity. It should be a one time thing to help people in need. I have known people that want to work for non-profits. How big a business is it that people want to go to work for these companies? Some of these people get paid a lot of money doing this work. You have to wonder if that money should have been better spent.

Imagine if that $300 billion was spread around the US. Maybe all the cities would have good road systems. Better education systems. New books in the libraries. I know, jobs for all the people who need it. There has to be a better way to redistribute wealth.

People being People...stop the charity...not that you will

Drivers out on the Road

You know that there has to be something wrong with a study like this. I remember when I was first learning how to drive. All the other people on the road did the stuff that I was trained not to do. All those people out on the road were horrible drivers. I kept trying to drive and all these OLD people got in the way. They went slow in the fast lane. They would not move over for faster trafic. They got in front of emergency vehicles. The teen drivers are not the bad drivers that the media and these studies portray them. I know that whenever I almost got into an accident, it could usually be attributed to the poor reaction of the other drivers on the road. My little brother once said that I was not a good driver but I react well to avoiding crashes. And that is because I analyze what the other drivers are doing. But when those drivers react in stupid ways, they cause other people to crash. And that leads to my point from this article. Teens may have more accidents but that is because of the older drivers on the road. The older drivers avoid the accident because they cause it. Due to the bad driving habits they have picked up over the years of their driving.

People being People...wouldn't it be nice to ?*&S them all!

SHO Party March 25, 2007

Random SHO party with several people that may not be working at SPL anymore. But still a lot of people from the library are still there.

Lamont's House Warming

One of the Librarians in my department had a 6 month house warming party recently. I attended, got a little non-sober, and had some fun. One of the pages, Ryan, in HTM, was there with his fiance Mary.

Hasbro Toy Shop 75% off sale

Hasbro had a nice sale on GI Joe recently. I picked up some of the DTC (Direct to Consumer) toys. I picked them up on Tuesday before work. I have not taken pictures yet so forgive this early post. The toys look good and just whetted my appetite for the 25th Anniversary toys.

July 4th Walk

I went out for lunch a little bit before 13:30 on Wednesday. I did get a Jamba Juice (Power Size Strawberries Wild with Burner and Energy) but did not eat anything until after 17:00. In between walking to get the Juice and the eating was an excursion through Capitol Hill to First Hill to the Waterfront to bridge to Magnolia and up the side of Queen Anne Hill. I got really burned and took some nice pictures of places along the way.
